Mauritius - the Pearl in the Indian Ocean
Lying in the heart of the Indian Ocean, 800 km. to the east of Madagascar, exotic Mauritius is surrounded by shimmering lagoons fringed by beautiful white sand beaches. A haven of peace-where lush vegetation blends into the cobalt blue of the ocean. Boasting a rich colonial history, the island is inhabited by a melting pot of Indian, Chinese, Creole and Franco-Mauritians that has resulted in a colourful cultural blend, famous for welcoming smiles and warm hospitality.
Day 1
On arrival at the airport, you will be met by your local Golfing Holidays - Worldwide representative, and transferred to Belle Mare Plage Hotel, The Resort, situated along one of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast of the island, offering an extensive range of amenities.
Most of the flights into Mauritius arrive in the early morning, so your room will be pre-booked from the night before so you can go straight to it.
It is an ideal location for novice or professional golfers with its two 18-hole Championship Golf Courses, set in a 150-hectares private natural park.
The afternoon will be free for you to relax and enjoy your surroundings

Day 2-
Time for a round of golf on THE LINKS, The second Belle Mare Plage, The Resort, Championship Golf Course, designed by Rodney Wright and Peter Alliss opened in November 2002. This 18-hole Links course was conceived as a result of the success and demands encountered by Hotels Constance's first course, 'The Legend'. Sitting beneath the clubhouse which faces the setting sun, the course measures 5,927 m and has a par of 71. Equipped with a practice fairway, this 18-hole course is set in a location which seems to have been naturally created for the purpose.
The "Sega" - the traditional Mauritian dance Dinner at the hotel - and perhaps you may be treated to a "Sega" exhibition.
The séga song and dance in Mauritius are a soulful expression of feelings for many locals. When conditions of work for the African slaves during the 18th century were miserable, they could numb their unhappiness drinking the arrack (obtained from the sugarcane), sing and dance the night away to the rhythmic beats of the séga.
Day 3
Time off from golf for a bit of sightseeing today. You'll visit Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, stopping at Pamplemousses Botanical garden along the way, which is the oldest botanical garden of the Southern Hemisphere. Pamplemousses Gardens, known to naturalists around the world, have a magnificent collection of indigenous and exotic plants. The Talipot tree, which is said to flourish once every sixty years, is one of the main attractions. 80 species of palms can be seen in this spectacular and serene garden.
A "must-do" in Mauritius is a visit to the Market place, where you really experience the day-to-day life of the Mauritian people. Check out the fresh herbs section where you can buy a cure for almost whatever ails you!
Shopping in Mauritius is great - and one thing the island is known for are the wonderfully intricate, hand-made wooden replica sailing ships. Don't worry, you won't have to carry it home - they can be sent anywhere in the world
Dinner at the hotel is included.
Belle Mare Plage Links - Mauritius Day 4
This morning you will play on The Legend course at Belle Mare Plage.
'The Legend', the first of its kind in Mauritius, designed by South African champion, Hugh Baiocchi, is the crowning achievement of the Resort, located along one of the most superb beaches on the island. Each of the 18 holes has distinctive characteristics. Superb fairways are laid in the heart of an indigenous forest, culminating on velvet greens, made to US PGA regulations. Teeing off from the 17th hole (par 3) is a feast for the eyes and a test for the nerves.
The afternoon is free for relaxing, water sports, or a Spa treatment.
Paradis Hotel - Mauritius Golfing Vacation Day 5
Today you will be transferred you to the beautiful Le Paradis Hotel and Golf Club, nestled at the foot of the impressive Le Morne mountain, on the western side of the island. You will be travelling from one side of the island to the other and will have the opportunity to do some sightseeing along the way.
Le Paradis is set on 7 kms of beautiful white sand beach, and most of the water sports are available to you on a complimentary basis.
Dinner is included at the Hotel.

If you want a bit of action in your day - why not got deep-sea fishing?
Mauritius is a real deep-sea fishing paradise. You may try your luck at the blue marlin, the black marlin, all types of sharks, the yellow-fin tuna, the skip-jack tuna, the sail fish, the wahoo, the barracuda etc. From November to April and even until May, these predators feed close to the island where the sea bottom falls to 70 metres just a mile from shore.

Mauritius holds several world records in fishing (IGFA): A mako shark of 1,115 lbs, a blue shark of 400 Lbs captured in February 1966, a skipjack tuna of 411/2 lbs, and among the African record (GFUA) that of a yellow fin tuna of 212 Lbs, a dog tooth tuna of 224 Lbs, and a wahoo of 125 lbs respectively.
