Canada Golfing Vacation
This is a wonderful 14 day self-drive, golfing vacation, playing some exceptional courses, amidst the most magnificent scenery you will ever see. No trip to Western Canada would be complete without travelling on the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer Railway, a visit to Vancouver Island, (take time to visit the Butchart Gardens!) and a stay at the majestic Banff Springs Hotel. Whilst the trip actually starts in Calgary, Elite Golf Tours can book accommodation and sightseeing tours of Vancouver before or extend your stay after your fabulous golfing holiday.
Day 1 - Calgary to Banff Springs
Arrival Calgary International Airport
After picking up your rental car for this tour, you will be driving a short distance to Banff. Just outside Calgary you see the majestic Rocky Mountains ahead. After about 90 minutes you leave the prairies behind and the gate to Banff National Park welcomes you ! Tonight You will stay at the famous Banff Springs Resort. Few hotels in the world can rival the majesty, hospitality and scenery of the Fairmont Banff Springs Resort.
Day 2 - Golf at Silvertip
Carved from the natural beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Silvertip is a world-class, 7200-yard championship course located in Canmore. Designed by the famous golf architect Les Furber, Silvertip is as challenging as it is spectacular! Surrounded by beautiful scenery, with moments of solitude are broken by the voices of nature. Silvertip offers 18 holes of beautifully designed golf overlooking the impressing Bow Valley corridor, deep in the heart of the Rocky Mountain wilderness.
Day 3 - Banff Springs
Today is a day of leisure. Pamper yourself at the Willow Stream Spa or take a dive at the hot springs. Banff has many different hiking trails and if you would prefer a little bit less challenging walks, take a stroll on the main street of Banff with a variety of Alpine shops and restaurants. A short distance from Banff is Lake Louise with the world famous Chateau Lake Louise.
Day 4 - Golf at the Banff Springs course.
Today, the superb Banff Springs Golf Course awaits you. The course offers a beautiful view in every direction and a magnificent layout that will keep you on your toes for the whole 18 holes. Keep a watch out for the deer and Elk on the course!
At the end of the golf day, relax and enjoy a soothing Spa Treatment in the famous Willow Stream Spa.
Day 5 - Banff Springs to Jasper
You leaave Banff Springs this morning and travel via The Icefield Parkway, one of the most scenic highways in the world, to Jasper.
Jasper Park is the largest and most northerly Canadian Rocky mountain National Park. You might see elk, moose, deer or a black bear during the day. Along the way there are numerous stops to enjoy the scenery. You will be staying at the famous Jasper Park Lodge.
The lodge, with one of the finest golf courses, gracious hospitality and fine cuisine, is more than a vacation. It's a life experience!
Day 6 - Golf at Jasper Park Lodge Course
After a wonderful breakfast you will play a special game. Golf at the Jasper Park Lodge is an experience you won't easily forget!
The course, built in 1925 by Stanley Thompson, is a treat to the senses. Celebrities such as Bing Crosby, Marilyn Monroe, James Stewart visited here, as well Queen Elizabeth.
One of the most well known holes here is called Cleopatra, a par-3, downhill, 231-yard scenic test framed by Pyramid Peak in the distance. For years people have seen the form of a shapely woman in its mounds and bunkers!
Day 7 - the Rocky Mountaineer Railway to Kamloops
After returning your rental car at the Hertz desk in Jasper, you will board the Rocky Mountaineer to make the exciting trip to Vancouver. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the magnificent scenery. You will pass by Mt Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 meters. You will follow the Thompson River, through the snowy peaks of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, into Kamloops, where you will stay for the night at a first class hotel.
Day 8 - Kamloops to Whistler
The second part of the journey is about to begin. Initially you will follow the Thompson River again into the Fraser Canyon. One of the Canyon's true highlights is Hell's Gate, where you will watch water torrent past the canyon's walls at its narrowest point. After the canyon you will pass through the fertile Fraser Valley on your way to Vancouver. After you pick up your rental car, it is a 2 hour drive to Whistler where you will stay for the next 3 nights at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
Day 9 - Golf at the Nicklaus North Course - Whistler
Explore all Whistler has to offer and play Nicklaus North Golf Course, just minutes of the resort. This par 71, 18-hole course winds along a gentle valley floor offering a spectacular setting. Nicklaus North stands out as one of the great courses in North America. Golf Digest has rated Whistler as one of the "Top 20 Greatest Golf Destinations in the World". After this exiting game you might want to relax in one of the spa's or have a massage in the privacy of your own room.
Chateau Whistler Golf Course Day 10 - Golf at the Chateau Whistler course
Today it is time to play the Chateau Whistler Golf Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1993, the par 72, 18-hole course offers a golf opportunity unmatched in the region. The course traverses creeks, ponds, stands of ancient Douglas Firs and granite rock faces, which testify to the fact that this magnificent course follows closely the natural state of the rugged terrain.
Day 11 - Vancouver Island
After breakfast it is time to hit the road. You will drive South on the Sea to Sky Highway to Vancouver. This highway is a spectacular drive, cut out of cliffs, following the scenic shoreline of Howe sound. The ferry will take you in 90 minutes to Nanaimo on Vancouver island. Take your camera on board with you for some fantastic shots. Going South to Victoria you will pass a number of interesting stops. (check the tips in the package). The Fairmont Empress will be your home for the next two days. The Fairmont Willow Stream Spa will prepare both men and women for a fabulous golf day, with a well deserved treatment.
Day 12 - Golf at Olympic View course
A short 20 minute drive west is the beautiful and challenging, Olympic View Golf Course with it's magnificent view of the Olympic Mountains on the other side of Puget Sound in Washington State. Don't get distracted by the sound of the two waterfalls located at the course. You will have a good chance of pairing up with a couple of deer and if you hit the ball too high, a Bald Eagle might swing by to drop it in the hole!
Day 13 - Vancouver
The ferry at Swartz Bay will take you back to the mainland. You will stay at the Fairmont Vancouver Waterfront right in the middle of the downtown area. If you take the early morning ferry there is ample time to explore the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver. Visit Stanley Park or take a walk to Gastown and the harbour where large cruise ships frequently visit. We can recommend many fine restaurants for a memorable evening.
Day 14
It's time to leave Canada behind. A 40 minute drive will take you back to Vancouver International Airport where you will return the rental car and say goodbye.
